GENERGEX PETROLEUM was established in Cebu in June 1999, one year after the enactment of Philippine Republic Act 8479: Downstream Oil Deregulation Act.
Genergex started out as the very first “New Player” in the oil industry to operate outside of Luzon and did so unopposed by other new players until 2001.

The first depot that Genergex established with the cooperation of SBDI (Subic Bay Distributors Inc.) were 2 – 8 million liter tanks. One- 8 million liter tank for Bunker fuel and another 8 million liter tank for diesel fuel.
As the only New player in the oil industry to operate in Cebu from 1999 to 2001, Genergex made an impact in Cebu by averaging approximately 1.5 million liters in sales for both Bunker and Diesel fuel.
Genergex also pioneered the “Gas station for the Masses” in Cebu allowing small businessmen to operate a filling station for as little as P 250,000 in 1999. These small filling stations quickly grew to 14 around the province of Cebu, Samar and Leyte.
Genergex operated as a “strike anywhere” Fuel distributor until Pilipinas Shell appointed it Official Commercial & Marine Distributor for Cebu in July 2012.
Genergex brought about a 1,125% increase in Shell’s Indirect Channel Volume translating to a 10% increase in Shell’s overall market share in Cebu for the wholesale segment in a span of less than one year.

Genergex’s President is Gerry Malixi. Sari Malixi is treasurer. Lucy Franco-Garcia and Maria Teresa Garcia are directors. One of the original incorporators of Genergex was the late Antonio Garcia of VECO- Visayas Electric Company.
